Paul Sheldon is a novelist who gained traction in his creation of the Misery series. Despite the great love his audience seems to hold to the main character, Misery Chastain, Paul himself could not be more ready to move on from the muse he created. After a nearly fatal car crash, Sheldon (and whatever was left of his legs) was dragged from the wreckage by a woman named Annie Wilkes, who just so happens to be his biggest fan. Paul would soon come to see that his savaged lower half would be the least of his worries; he faced an all new type of hell in his own rescuer.
